Ranchi, a pretty town in Jharkhand, has been luring tourists throughout the year owing to its pristine beauty.

1. Dassam Falls

If you want to enjoy nature’s beauty amidst absolute peace, this is the right place for you. Situated around 34 km from the center spot of Ranchi, the falls can be visited at the Ranchi-Tata road situated near Taimara village. You can visit this place by either driving down here or else by booking a cab. The clean, clear waters sliding down from very big rocks is a scene to behold. The source of water for this waterfall is River Kachni which can be seen cascading down from the height of 144 feet.

2. Jagannath Temple

Built in the 17th century in the year 1691, the temple has the same architecture as that of Jagannatha temple in Puri. Similar to the Rath Yatra carried out in Puri, a rath yatra is also carried out here. It also witnesses a huge crowd of tribals as well as of non-tribals in this rate yatra. The temple was constructed by Thakur Ani Nath Shahdeo, king of Barkagarh. it is situated on the top of a hill and gives a picturesque view. One needs to climb many stairs to reach the temple top. And as these stairs are steep, the devotees need to take rest in middle. There is an arrangement of fresh water in between so that they can feel fresh.

3. Pahari Mandir

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple is situated on a hilltop at a height of 2140 ft. above the sea level. In ancient times, this hill was called as Phansi Tongri and those involved in freedom fight were hanged here as a punishment. A long queue of devotees can be seen here during sharawan month when followers throng in big numbers to offer their prayers. It gives a mesmerizing view of the town from the hilltop.

4. Deori temple

This is a beautiful temple dedicated to Goddess Kali. It’s an ancient shrine. Here the idol of Maa Kali can be seen with 16 arms. The temple is located in Tamaar village. Kali Goddess is also called as ‘Solahbhuji Devi’. This temple, as per beliefs, was built by a tribal chief. Its walls and pillars are beautifully constructed by using sandstone.

5. Sun temple

Situated on Tata Road in Bhundu, the Sun Temple is a beautiful temple located at a distance of 39 kilometers from Ranchi.

This is a yet another important attraction of the city. What appeals to tourists the most is a chariot’s statue installed in its premises with 18 wheels and 7 horses. It is built around a sacred pond, funded by a charitable Trust named Sanskrit Vihar.

6. Hundru Falls

Falling from a height of around 320 feet, the Hundru Falls is the 34th highest waterfall in India.

Situated on Ranchi-Purulia Road, at a distance of 45 km from Ranchi, it gushes around with the water supplied by the Subarnarekha River. The serene surroundings are feast to the eye. There is lush greenery all around.

7. The Birsa zoological park

If you have a penchant for natural fauna, then this is the best place for you. One can study different aspects of mammalian fauna at this place. This park is also known by the name of Birsa Jaivik Udyan, and branded as an eco-friendly site. It is situated near Ormanjhi, which finds place on the Ranchi-Patna National highway.

8. The Johna Falls

These falls are also known by the name of Gautamdhara Falls. A renowned waterfall, the Johna Falls are a part of hanging valley falls category which are lying on Ranchi Plateau’s edge.

These waterfalls collect water from River Ganga and Raru. One needs to step down 722 steps to view the beauty around. Water slides down from a height of 43 meters at Johna Falls.

You can also see the break in slopes here at a point known as nick point. The water therefore falls with breaks in rock’s slopes.

9. Dhurwa Dam

An ultimate, awesome and a beautiful place, you can have a soothing and calm experience watching the amazing sun set which makes the skies around turn red in color providing a picturesque scene.

The water is immaculately clean here. One can reach here easily as the place is connected via all transport means.

10. Kanke Dam

A famous picnic spot, Kanke Dam has been visited by many tourists to have a glimpse at its innate beauty.

This dam is the best during early morning hours. You can also go for a daybreak walk here which can be quite refreshing. These walks can be either inside the park or you can stroll across the dam. You will definitely be in awe of nature after watching the sunset here. Also there is a rock garden near to the dam which is a fun place for all age people, be it adults, kids or senior citizens.

11. Ranchi Lake

Located in the heart of the city on the Lake road near Marwari college, the Ranchi Lake offers beautiful views. The experience is ultimate once you visit here as it is located away from the hustle bustle of the town. Situated at Ranchi Hill’s base, this lake is easy to reach owing to easily available transportation resources. The Pahari Mandir is situated nearby which can also be visited from here.

Situated at the center of the city, a little ahead of the Kanke Dam lies a big rock. This has been developed into a perfect garden skillfully. Many Bhojpuri films are shot here. This man-made waterfall also has a hanging bridge which yet again gives a different experience to eyes. The sunset view is a must watch from here and hence it should be visited in evening hours. The Rock Garden gives a beautiful view of the Ranchi city. It has got a unique architecture and is cluttered with many hotels and restaurants around. Hence you can relish your taste buds as well.
