Tamil Nadu is one of the most prominent states of india. It is a bastion
of Tamil culture that is the soul representative of the dravidian culture
that goes way back into the prehistoric past of the region. Temples with

The Climate:
Tamil nadu has tropical climate with no great variation between summer and winter temperatures. The average temperatures range from 40 C to 25 C (116F- 48F approx.) in the plains while the hill station record much cooler temperatures. The average temperatures. The best time to visit Tamil Nadu is between November and february. It is Preferable to wear light weight cottons and Linens in summer and woollens if necessary , in the hill stations.
The History:
During the sangam age, Tamil Nadu was ruled by three major dynasties-the cholas, the pandyas and the cheras. Later the Vijayanagaram Empire came into Being. After the disintergration of this empire, various small rulers such as the nayaks rules ruled southern india. By the middle of the 18th century, the region came under british rule. At that time, most of South india was integrated into the region called the madras precidency, In 1956, The Madras presidency was re-formed and Tamil Nadu was established.

The Tamilians are well known for their hospitality and generous nature. They are friendly, easy-going and very helpful. They are also known to be traditional and family oriented. Though Tamil is spoken widely, a tourist can get by with english, as most people are familiar with the language.

There
is ample mention of the exquisite arts and crafts of Tamil Nadu in the
chronicles of Pliny, Kautilya and other scholars who marvel at the states
fine silk, soft muslin, ornate ivory work and precious stones like
diamonds, rubies, pearls and tortoise shell. Tamil Nadu, resting at the
pinnacle of ancient culture was the erstwhile kingdom of the Pallava,
Pandya and Vijayanagar rulers and has ample relics that testify the
architectural grandeur and the cultural efflorescence of the period.
Tamil Nadu, India’s cultural capital is renown for its splendid temples
and other architectural edifices. The state’s claim to fame lies in its
magnificent and renowned Tanjore paintings that thrived in ancient
Tanjavoor during the Chola dynasty. The revered and traditional art form
depicting the sacred deities is embellished with semi-precious stones,
pearls, glass pieces and gold and colored in the vibrant hues. The modern
Tanjore paintings however portray floral motifs, animals, birds as well as
pretty human figures.
Tamil Nadu’s art and culture also abounds in musical instruments that
strike a melodious chord. The Naadaswaram, the Silappadikaaram, the Kumbu,
Thambhuras and vcarious lutes and percussion instruments add a musical
note to the various colorful festivities of the state.
Like any other place, Tamil Nadu flaunts its own exquisite and traditional
jewelry. The womenfolk look beautiful as they adorn themselves in the
oddiyaanam (gold waist belt), vanki (armlet) and jimiki (earrings),
maattals of gold or pearls as well as other stone-crusted jewelery. The
people are also firm believers in the magical wonders of the navaratnas
(nine gems).
