Kanyakumari is located at the confluence of the three oceans - the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. It lies between latitude 8.078 degree north and longitude 77.541 degree east.

Visit to Kanyakumari Beach, Once referred to as the Alexandria of the East, Kanyakumari was the centre for art, culture, civilization and pilgrimage. It was also a famous trading route which resulted in the arrival of two major religions Islam and Christianity. Kanyakumari was also ruled by the Cholas, the Cheras and later by Pandayas and the Nayakas. During the British rule, it was known as Cape Camorin, and was a part of Kerala state. But with the reorganisation of states, all Tamil speaking areas were seceded and the district was formed in 1956.
